Something about Mary

As a child, our family would travel to the Airport to say farewell to our aunts and uncles going on their long holiday back to their home country, Scotland. My cousins and I would watch the planes at Mascot, Sydney Airport while the adults would enjoy drinks and laughs and wish each other good luck on their journey.

It was at this time I decided one day it would be my turn to have a long trip and for years I looked forward to boarding my first plane overseas.

Fast forward forty years or more and I am very pleased to say I accomplished many travel goals and have had loads of wonderful adventures along the way.

After my first big adventure of 14 months backpacking in Europe, I came home with a desire to help others to take their first journey. So, I started my career in travel in 1987 and have seen it change dramatically over the years. However, the thrill of packing your bag, passport in hand, jumping onto a plane and arriving in an unknown city is just as exhilarating for me today as ever.

So many travel stories I have collected along the way and this year 2021, while the travel world has quietened down due to Covid, I decided to spend time and pen my adventures and create this blog. It is a work in progress and will keep me busy for many years.

Hope you enjoy the journeys and buckle up and come along for the ride.
